Testing | Free Hepatitis C Testing

Free Hepatitis C Testing is available by appointment at Colorado AIDS Project. You must qualify to be tested for hepatitis C.

You must meet one or more of the following qualifications:

• Anyone with a history of Injection Drug Use

• Anyone who received blood or blood products prior to 1992

• Anyone who has undergone hemodialysis

• Anyone who has been needle sharing and/or sexual partner of someone with HVC

• Anyone who has received a blood transfusion outside the US

How Hepatitis is spread:

Hep A: Ingestion of fecal matter, even in microscopic amounts, from close person-to-person contact or ingestion of contaminated food or drinks.

Hep B: Contact with infectious blood, semen, and other body fluids from having sex with an infected person, sharing contaminated needles to inject drugs, or from an infected mother to her newborn.

Hep C: Contact with the blood of an infected person, primarily through sharing contaminated needles to inject drugs, but can occur during sexual intercourse. For more information, please click here.

Vaccine for Hepatitus A and B

Hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccination are available. Please talk to your healthcare provider for more information. Currently, there is no vaccine for Hepatitis C.
